      Sharing Experience // Life is Simple, Really ( September 8, 2008 )

Life is simple. It really is! This is something I’ve realized at an early age and I still stand by it.

The tricky thing is, we are the ones that complicate it! I know, I’m rather complicated. We let our fears, mainly, desires and doubts interfere in the way we perceive our lives. When we let those feelings play a role in it, that’s when we think it gets complicated!

Kids always have simple answers to whatever the problem seems to be. So how come life just gets complicated all of a sudden just because your age changed? Sure, there’s more responsibility and what not, but the only thing that changed was your perception. You start to take many new elements into account when faced with a situation. You start to fear losing acquired goods (either material or not). And when new, but different circumstances arrive, you can’t embrace them because you can’t let go. And it get’s complicated.

We can’t keep everything forever. Everything comes and goes, the old leaves to let the in new. But that’s not complicated. It’s simple, and it’s when we can’t let go that we perceive it as complicated.

So when you encounter a hard situation or something, take a deep breath, take a step back and ask yourself:
How simple is this and how am I complicating this?

If the element that distresses you didn’t exist, how simple would it be? And then, why does that element exist and why does it distresses you? Give it some thought, explore it, see it as if it was some else in your shoes.
