No one likes feeling like a failure. But that’s only a perspective…
If no one ever tried out for their dreams, then no one would ever reach them! And I doubt many got there on their first try!
You’re afraid of being disappointed, so you choose to be disappointed ahead of time.
You’re afraid you’ll fail, so you prepared for failure in advance. Or worse yet, don’t even bother to try.
It just becomes an habit that’s hard to stop.
So, don’t let your fear of failing freeze you.
It’s only natural to make mistakes! And not just occasionally. It’s the process of learning, through experience, because not everything can be taught from books or from a lecture. You need to live it.
You can learn so much from your mistakes! Examine what went wrong and correct that next time!
Failing is just like ripping a band-aid, we suffer more with the anticipation of it. After it’s done you realize, it wasn’t so bad after all! Sure it hurt, but it wasn’t the end of all life on planet ego!
When the fear overwhelms you, all you need to ask yourself is: What’s the worst that can happen?
And if the answers isn’t very satisfactory, ask again: What’s the worst that can happen if that comes to be?
Did that made sense? Let’s illustrate that with a really big cliche:
Boy or girl with major rejection issues is afraid of asking someone on a date.
Worst thing to happen: being rejected.
Worst thing to happen if rejected: feel like crap for a while.
What happens next: move on.
The anxiety of the results is the worst part. So just do it quick and get on with your life, instead of wondering how would it be had you tried.
Are you afraid of being optimistic?
