We all have bad days, even the most optimistic of us. It’s a law of nature to have bad days, otherwise would be unnatural.
It all boils down to how we handle and deal with a bad day, or a sequence of those.
I’m gonna say, embrace your bad day! Accept that you’re having one. Don’t refuse the possibility of having a bad day which you can’t improve. Often times we think of applying some of the self-development tips to improve the day, there’s certainly a lot of articles throughout the web about those! But sometimes that won’t do the trick, sometimes we can ease up for a moment only to get hit again, and the only thing we can accomplish with it is frustration.
It sure happened to me, for two weeks. I got some setbacks one after the other, and even though you try to stay calm, it becomes nerve wrecking after a few. I didn’t seem to be getting anything quite right and had to do it again, and sometimes yet again. I got so stressed my stomach was aching one weekend.
When something went wrong, I tried to step back for a few moments, take a deep breath and then go at it again. But it just kept happening so many times and this wasn’t working anymore. And I was getting tired.
By the end of the second week I even accidentally hit the garage’s gate with my car, in broad daylight and I wasn’t drunk! This was it. I gave up. I resigned to it and just stopped trying!
The end results… I don’t care if what I’m doing is less than perfect, it’s just done and I need to get moving. I’m not gonna care much about anything. I’m going to do as less as possible for the rest of the day if it started out bad. Just until things start to look better!
The key thought is Nothing lasts forever.
So, accept your really bad day, stop struggling, do as less as possible and above all don’t demand or expect perfection! Some days just aren’t meant to. Focus on other small things you can enjoy, such as a friend or a place or a stranger’s smile, anything to keep you from sulking all day.
