So, I bought two travel guides: New York and India! Now, I’m still in the flirting process of planning a trip (or two). And I like to do that very slowly!
If there has to be a reason for the chosen destinations, I would say… I want to see up close a different reality. I want to experience extremes of reality. I want to see the contrasts and the similarities. I’m fascinated by opposite extremes.
I want to see the old India. I want to feel something different from the life of comfort I have. Sometimes we don’t realize how many things in our lives are indeed luxuries other people don’t have any access to.
I have a feeling that it could be a very touching and insightful experience. Of course I don’t need to go all the way to India to see poverty, I just have a certain empathy for it.
As for New York, this city is always portrayed by the media with such a charm of it’s own. And I want to get a chance of breathing that. I want to see the glamor and feel the city’s vibrancy.
For me, it’s something that requires investigation and no rush at all. Also very important, for me, is to reach a comfortable state of mind with the idea that it might not all be good. That there can be, and most likely will be, setbacks or not so peachy experiences and situations!
If I’m simply just expecting everything to be fine, because I don’t want to be bothered with some difficulties, then it’s not worth going. Because it’s normal to encounter less than perfect situations, and if I’m not n the mood to deal with them, then I’ll just have a bad experience!
I just like to take my time.
